Mixer Fixer Mixer (Mixer Repair Workshop)

Kitchen Aid® mixers are the standard in every kitchen, a design icon and always a lovely wedding present. They were built to last and can make meringue in minutes. But, after 20 years of making Grandma’s sugar cookies, the machine, like a car, needs some basic maintenance.

This hands-on workshop will provide a complete over-hall of your mixer. We’ll remove all 15 screws to open up the machine to inspect and regrease the planetary gears, inspect/adjust all the moving parts, clean out all the nooks and crannies, adjust the mixer head height for proper attachment rotation and shine it up to look like almost new.

Note: this workshop will be limited to Kitchen Aid® tilt head designs: Classic, Ultra Power and Artisan models (no lift-bowls).

Brett Stern is an industrial designer (the profession that designs these things) and started his career designing small appliances for Hamilton Beach. Since a kid he’s been inventing/fixing stuff and for years his side hustle has been to find used Kitchen Aid® mixers, clean them up and then find good homes for them, with over 100 mixers restored to date. He’s been involved in Repair PDX since its founding.
